Purpose . . . Provides an overview of the relative importance of developing proficiency in four communication areas - sharing relevant information with the right people at the right times, actively listening to and demonstrating understanding of the comments and questions of others, using effective verbal and non-verbal communications techniques in interactions with others and writing clearly and concisely in formal and informal opportunities. Effective communication is extremely challenging in this age of ‘instant information’. Individuals who consistently demonstrate effective communication skills are able to get things done by and through others.
