The PARTNERSHIP Enters 3rd Year. . . . . . |
. . . . creating an environment that works for everyone |

I am living proof that there is truth to the statement: "...time sure flies when you're having fun". While it seems like only yesterday, The PARTNERSHIP..... is entering its third year. And during this time, I've had many opportunities to define, refine and redefine the word 'partner'. According to The Oxford Universal Dictionary, there are four (4) definitions. Here's how I've dealt with each of them:
1. "one who has a share or part with another or others; a partaker, sharer". My initial opportunity to 'partner' occurred with the TRW Data Capture Services Contract (DCSC) project. The challenges of DCSC included managing all operations of the data capture process within a 240-day deadline. TRW managed 3 subcontractors who in turn managed over 10,000 people working in 3 temporary Data Capture Centers (DCC). The focus was on planning and scheduling as well as developing policies and procedures for every activity to ensure all 10,000 employees were trained so that their work was conducted the same way regardless of which DCC they were working in. The project was not only successful but was recognized by the customer for its outstanding performance in the program management of the 2000 Census, which had never been outsourced in the 210-year history of the Census Bureau. In addition, the project team was nominated for and awarded the highly coveted TRW Chairman's Award for Innovation. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to the wide range of human resources efforts that helped make this project successful.
2. "one who is associated in any function, act, or course of action, an associate, colleague (occasionally merely = companion; formerly often: an accomplice)". 'Partnering' has also occurred with other consulting firms and/or consultants in the delivery of products and services. Special thanks are extended to the Work in Northeast Ohio Council (WINOC), Deloitte & Touche, and DNHanink Consulting for providing opportunities to share skills and experiences.
3. "a. one who is associated with another or others in some business, the expenses, profits and losses of which he proportionately shares. b. a husband or wife. c. one's companion in a dance. d. a player associated on the same side with another in whist, tennis, etc". Starting a business can test the 'partnership' of marriage and family, as well. I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to 'partner' with Earline and Erika on different consulting projects and with Lisa and Hezekiah on technical support with the PC--- not to mention the fact that Earline serves as Chief Financial Officer. Overall, this has been a blessing in disguise for all of us.
4. "a framework of timber fitted round any hole or scuttle in a ship's deck, through which a mast, capstan, pump, etc. passes and serving to strengthen the deck and to relieve strain". As I contemplated the launch of the consulting practice, my desire was to assist companies and organizations in better understanding, building and maintaining the necessary and required 'partnership' between themselves and their employees. Since then, I have 'partnered' with a number of client companies and organizations on projects ranging from strategy planning and alignment, muti-perspective (360º) feedback, effective relationships between management and employees (improved trust), career planning, diversity skills building and supervisor/manager training. A complete listing of clients is located on the 'Clients' page of this web site.

I am sure I have missed some (but not intentionally) who have helped me with this venture. |
